The 70 Deluxe Rooms and Suites facing West and South feature Natural Stone Bathrooms and Schramm Mattresses. Luxury Suites & Spa Retreat – The retreat was opened in 2015 and is 150 m west of Elmau Castle on a hidden hillside. 47 spacious junior suites & suites offer maximum peace and comfort with a breathtaking view of the Wetterstein Mountains and the rushing Ferchenbach. Warm light and Asian lightness combine timelessly casual elegance from Italy with natural materials from all over the world in all rooms. The retreat was the residence of the heads of state and government during the G7 summit in 2015. The philosopher and writer designed a luxury Spa & Cultural hideaway Dr. Johannes Müller built as a holiday home for his readers and artists. In a major fire in August 2005, 2/3 of the listed building was destroyed and demolished. From 2006-2007, his grandson Dietmar Mueller-Elmau rebuilt Schloss Elmau as a 5-star superior luxury spa & cultural hideaway. The Rooms & Suites – In the hideaway – The south and west wings of Schloss Elmau, newly built in 2007, have a total of 75 rooms and suites. All are timelessly elegant with understatement, warm light, Asian lightness & valuable natural materials from all over the world, and offer a wonderful view of the mountains. The rooms are equipped with extra-long & luxurious mattresses from Schramm, oiled oak floors, natural stone bathrooms, Hans Grohe fittings, cupboards made from American cherry, Samsung HD TV, and minibar. Concerning protecting the climate and the fresh mountain air, there is no air conditioning. However, the nights are always pleasantly cool due to the high location.

Junior suites, suites & apartments in the Wetterstein Wing – The Wetterstein Wing, built-in 2003, has 32 junior suites, suites, and apartments connected to the hideaway by a light-flooded corridor. All rooms have a large and fully opening window front with a wonderful view of the south’s Wetterstein wall. All rooms are equipped with oak parquet and furniture from Lambert Home & Kokon. Standard rooms have cooking facilities and classic small bathrooms with white tiles. Deluxe rooms have spacious natural stone bathrooms, oversized beds (200×210) with luxurious mattresses from Schramm and Kushkali carpets. Rooms with a kitchenette can also be booked as a holiday home if certain hotel services are waived.

Restaurants For Gourmets & Cosmopolitans – Enjoy unobtrusive authentic hospitality & the freedom of choice between restaurants only for adults or for families, between buffet with live cooking or à la carte, between culinary art from Italy, Asia or France & Japan with two stars or just snacks & cakes in casual lounges with open fireplaces. ”Luce D’Oro” – 2 Michelin stars 2020 – 9.5 out of 10 points in the Gusto – 18 points Gault et Millau 2020. Executive Chef Christoph Rainer’s kitchen style is based on French cuisine, which he interprets easily and in a contemporary way thanks to Far Eastern flavors. His culinary art was awarded two stars from 2010-2014 at Villa Rothschild in Königstein im Taunus and from 2014 – 2017 at Tigerpalast in Frankfurt. In 2018 he took over the Luce d’Oro, which has been awarded one star since 2010 and two stars since 2019.

”Elmauer Alm” – The alp, built-in 1924, belongs to Schloss Elmau and is located on a 1203 m high ridge with a breathtaking panoramic view of Karwendel Mountains, Wetterstein Mountains, Alpspitze, Zugspitze, and Schloss Elmau. You can reach the alpine pasture on foot on a direct and steeper hiking trail in 40 minutes from Schloss Elmau, over a flat meadow hiking trail in 60 minutes from Kranzbach, a beautiful mountain trail with a wonderful panoramic view in 1 1/2 hours from the corner farmer. There is also a wonderful cross-country trail with a slight incline up to the Elmauer Alm in winter.

”Shantigiri Adults & Lady Spa” – The Shantigiri Adult & Lady Spa is reserved exclusively for guests aged 16 and over who live in the retreat. All spa areas in the retreat can only be used with swimwear. There is a spacious sauna area for women with a Finnish sauna (36sqm) with mountain views, a brine steam bath (30sqm), a sheltered terrace and access to the Infinity Solepool 35C, 20m) reserved for adults and a relaxation room. The sauna area for men and women also has a spacious Finnish sauna (36sqm) with a view of Ferchenbach & Wetterstein Mountains, a brine steam bath (36sqm) and direct access to the cold plunge pool (15C, 20sqm), infinity brine pool (35C, 20m), Relaxation room with a wonderful view of the mountains, access to the sun terrace and nature spa on the Ferchenbach and the tea lounge with an open fireplace.

Ferchensee – From Schloss Elmau, a 3 km beautiful, only slightly rising hiking trail leads along the crystal-clear Ferchenbach to the Ferchensee, where you can swim in summer 22-25C. You can reach the Ferchensee in 10 minutes by electric bike, in 15 minutes by mountain bike, in 25 minutes by jogging, in 30 minutes if you go fast or by horse-drawn carriage and 60 minutes if you take a leisurely walk.

Yoga Experience – In the Jivamukti Yoga Center, there is a course for everyone from 8.30 am to 10 am and a course for practiced people from 4 pm to 5.30 pm. All courses are led by Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teachers trained by Shanon Ganon & David Life, the founders of Jivamukti Yoga, in New York.

Taiji & Qigong – Dr. univ. Imke König has been practicing Taijiquan and Qigong for 35 years and has specialized in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a doctor. The practice is located in the bathhouse. Please book appointments for treatments and courses at the spa reception. Taiji Quan – In the Taiji Retreat, the form, i.e., the authentic Yang style’s choreography, is rehearsed. Also, Qigong exercises for warming up and for strength, coordination, and flexibility are carried out. TCM & Qigong – The essence of traditional Chinese medicine is conveyed in the TCM and Qigong Retreat. New Qigong exercises are taught every day, as well as knowledge of the principles of Chinese 5-element nutrition and a happy and long life in harmony with nature.

Summer Sports in the Power Source Alps – Mountain & hiking tours with or without a mountain guide, e-mountain biking, jogging, Nordic walking, tennis with or without a teacher on 3 clay courts, kite & windsurfing on the Walchensee, archery with a champion, kayaking and rafting on the Loisach, golf in Garmisch and Wallgau & riding in the Schmalensee stud.

Winter Sports in a Grandiose Landscape – Schloss Elmau is the perfect ski hotel for everyone who wants to enjoy skiing and wellness, yoga, excellent restaurants & concerts with great artists on their skiing holiday. While 20 km of cross-country skiing and skating trails start directly in front of the hotel, a shuttle takes you to another 200 km of trails within 5 minutes and to a total of 80 km of Alpine skiing slopes and snowboard fun parks between Seefeld and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 20-25 minutes who have both hosted the Winter Olympics and World Championships.
